 | Paul W. Soenksen is a senior counsel at Coates & Frey. He is a graduate of Kaiser High School, University of Hawaii and University of California, Hastings College of the Law (Juris Doctorate). He is a member of the Hawaii State Bar Association and the American Bar Association, and is licensed to practice before the Federal District Court for the District of Hawaii. He is a member of the Family Law Section of the Hawaii State Bar, Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. While at Hastings College of the Law, he was selected as first alternate to its national moot court team and received Hastings Moot Court oral award. He is a recipient of American Jurisprudence Award, Torts.

1991); passed California Bar exam July, 1992; passed North Carolina Bar Exam
July, 1993; member North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers; owned and operated
Law Offices of Karl E. Phillips, 1993 - 2003 a solo practice concentrating in
Criminal Law, Family Law, and general civil matters); passed Hawaii Bar exam and

Court for the Middle District of North Carolina, and the United States District

Christopher D. Thomas is a graduate of Nebraska
Wesleyan University, Creighton University School of Law (Juris Doctorate) and
U.S. Air Force Officer Training School (rank of Captain). He is a member of the Colorado State Bar and admitted to Supreme Court and Federal District Courts of Colorado since 1999; admitted to U.S. Court of Military Appeals in 2000; member of Hawai’i State Bar and admitted to Supreme Court and Federal District Court of Hawai’i since 2004; also a member of the Hawai`i State Bar’s Family Law Section.
He is a former felony prosecuting attorney for U.S. Air Force JAG Corps and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Hawai’i; appointed as JAG Defense attorney (2001-2004), serving Pacific Air Forces in Hawai’i, Guam, Japan, and Korea; former clerk to Hon. Joseph F. Bataillon, U.S. District Court Judge, Omaha, Nebraska (1999).
His current practice is concentrated in Family Law litigation including divorce, custody, post-decree enforcement and paternity, as well as the advancement and defense of both Criminal and Civil Temporary Restraining Orders; member of Coates & Frey’s Military Family Practice Group which focuses on virtually all aspects of the interface between Family Law and Hawaii’s Military Community. |
